How to Dress Like Ke$ha-Part I

With “Tik tok” resounding from Kiss FM nearly every other time I flip the radio on and my sister playing “Blah blah blah” on her laptop, we simply can’t deny that Ke$ha has definitely made a mark in the world. I know, it might be hard to write a fashion post about her, but I’ll give it a shot. Shall we, fashionistas?

Her look consists of a dark smoky eyes, tangerine/bronze lips, pale skin, and beachy hair. My favorite products for this look are the following:

Tik-tok: Wake up in the morning feeling like P.Diddy…oh my word. That song rings bells. Yes it does. But, regardless, let’s look at how Ke$ha decided to style her wardrobe in her music video for “Tik tok”

Outfit 1:I’m out the door, I’m gonna hit the city

Outfit 2: And the party don’t start till I walk in

“Alice in Wonderland” Outfits

3-D glasses, a bright array of colors, classic Disney tale retold, Johnny Depp, need I say more? Tim Burton’s newest “Alice in Wonderland” has enthralled people all over the world. Well done, Tim Burton! And, of course, as the mad fashion blogger I am, watching the movie instantly got me thinking: how can I dress like the characters? Below, I will present you with some of my own personal inspiration drawn from the movie, outfits that, we fashionistas, can enjoy without looking like we stepped out of Wonderland.

Everything about Alice is sort of the “defying-Victorian-norms” concept. Her going into business, not wearing stockings/corsets. To create Alice’s look in our own wardrobes, bringing un-girly items in will totally do the trick.

My interpretation:

Mad Hatter:

Johnny Depp’s portrayal of the Mad Hatter left me in awe, once again. His outfit is really very eclectic and impressive. Here’s a tutorial on his hair/makeup look, just for fun:

My interpretation:

The Red Queen:

Her heart-shaped lips, the wardrobe of all her courtiers, red, gold and black. Impressive and amusing. Here’s a make-up tutorial for the Red Queen.

My interpretation:

The White Queen:

The White Queen is the symbol of all good in the world. Her pure white outfit, her dainty arm motions, her adoring smile. Beautiful. Here’s a makeup tutorial:

Spring/Summer Outfits using your Fall/Winter Pieces

These past two days have been the best weather ever for us Seattlites. Traversing across Pike Place Market and getting sprinkled with water at the International Fountain were exactly what I was supposed to do on such beautiful weather. Yet, when I woke up to the sound of a lawnmower, I knew something was amiss. It felt like summer. Waking up to the sun creeping in through my window at 10 AM and my neighbors’ gardener already here to do the lawn-mowing. Not the first thought, but among the first to pop into my mind was: what do I wear? Looking frantically through my wardrobe from last summer, I was barely satisfied. So, in honor of random summer-like day in the middle of March, here are my tips on how to make your own spring/summer outfits with your fall/winter wardrobe.

Outfit 1: Your Fall Blazer…pair it with a cami and shorts!

Outfit 2: Your Cardigan…pair it with a graphic tee and bermuda shorts!

Outfit 3: Your dark colored clothing..brighten it up with patterns and colors!

As a closing note…I hope you have already started stocking your wardrobe with spring clothing. You know I would be thoroughly disappointed if you haven’t.

How to Dress Like Naomi from “90210”

Where does one start with Naomi? From her exquisite sense of style, to her extraordinary body shape and her hair, to her bossy and confident attitude! She is, undoubtedly, my favorite character on 90210. Yes, I know she’s bitchy and totally uncharismatic something, but I love characters who are just bursting with confidence and style. And the same goes with people. It doesn’t matter how they dress or talk, so long as they have confidence in what they do. I love unique people who love themselves. So, in celebration of all the free time I am bestowed with during spring break, here is my Naomi post.

California Beach Beauty:

Whether it’s chilling on a yacht, or just strolling with friends, Naomi conveys the very image of a Californian beach beauty, not to mention when she’s actually on the beach. Yet, I know, for many unfortunate souls (myself included) we simply don’t have the luxury of California beaches at our fingertips. However, believe it or not, the California girl wardrobe can still make a kick in your own outfits. Here’s how.

Interpretation 1: Oh the weather outside is frightful, but your inner fire is so delightful

Interpretation 2: Peek-A-Sunshine!

Interpretation 3: Ready to Rock the Beach

Yet, we all know that our homie girl Naomi doesn’t just strut her stuff in Californian apparel. She also has her evening looks and sleeker outfits.

Naomi’s non-beach style is totally classy and sleek! Look at her vintage outfit in the first outfit, her classic red sweater, and her show-stealing prom dress (she and Liam are definitely an item now! for those of you who haven’t watched the latest episode). You can pull off this sleek style anywhere you go. Here are my two interperations.

Interpretation 1: Sleek to School

Interpretation 2: Sly as the Evening Sky

Hope this is inspiring!

Inspired by Lily Allen-Part II

Going off of yesterday’s first Lily Allen post, here’s a part II on Lily Allen’s style from her newest album “It’s Not Me, It’s You”.

The Fear

Definitely one of Lily Allen’s most popular songs from the album, her little cute dress with a bow, the dancing gift boxes, and balloons. Girly, patterns, pastels..cute!

How to get Lily’s look in this video?

  • Girly prints/patterns
  • Pastel colors
  • Add a girly touch (like a bow) to any outfit.

When she was 22…her future seemed bright.

Another striking video was Lily Allen’s “22”. Her outfits are all “night-out” outfits, with dark red lipstick, long bangs, and a draping dress.

How do I get Lily Allen’s look in this video?

  • Dark colors, yet shiny.
  • Dark red lipstick
  • Gothic look

My interpretation:

Inspired by Lily Allen-Part I

Iam sure you have all laid your eyes/ears upon Lily Allen’s music at one point in your life and either turned away in disgust, giggled, or fell in love. I fell in love with Lily Allen’s voice the first time I heard her song “Alfie” and the music video make me laugh too. Anyways, I have heard that Lily Allen started her own fashion line once, but it clearly didn’t make much of a boom so that has disappeared from the fashion world. But, regardless, our deer-eyed, adorable British singer still serves as a source of inspiration for me fashion-wise.

This video really reminds me of Lady Gaga’s “Eh eh” music video, with the baby blue walls and colorful clothes Lily Allen wears. Her outfit is also quite vintage in this music video.

Elements of Lily Allen’s look:

  • Floral dress
  • Bright colors
  • Clean/shiny skin

Lily Allen’s “Smile” is obviously about taking revenge on a guy…and she does it very cruelly too. But her style in this video is very girly and sweet, from her pink dress to her green sweater/white dress combination.

How do get Lily Allen’s look:

  • Messy ponytail
  • Long, dangly jewelry
  • Long dresses

My interpretation:

Here’s a messy-ponytail tutorial:

How to dress like Lady Gaga in “Telephone”

Lady Gaga has an indescribable effect on our world. As soon as she releases a new video, Facebook statuses instantly change to compliment her studded bras. Her video jumps to the top of the iTunes music video chart and the “videos being watched now” section of Youtube is flooded with her face. And, of course, your dear fashion blogger here immediately starts working on a Lady Gaga fashion post. For those of you who have not yet let the Lady Gaga video infiltrate your minds, here it is:

Yet, before I do a hardcore Gaga post, let’s take a look at Beyonce in this video. She also looks quite lovely.

Jewels, brights, gold-tassel shoulder pads. All in this outfit! It seems like a new take on traditional “royalty” clothing.

How can you bring this look into your wardrobe?

  • A traditional blazer with jewels/tassels.
  • Bright colored clothing
  • Bright colored accessories
  • remember…”clashing is dashing”

My interpretation:

And, now…LADY GAGA

Every single one of her outfits in the morning takes it to the “Next level”. In other words, she takes simple trends and styles that we are likely to dabble in and pushes it to the limit. To start off, let’s look at her opening outfit:

Lady Gaga takes shoulder pads (recently seen on many fashion runways) and exaggerates them beyond imagination. She takes cat-eyed sunglasses and exaggerates them just as much. Gothic makeup covers her face.

How can you bring this look into your wardrobe?

  • Blacks and whites only
  • The sunglasses
  • Dark red lipstick
  • Broad shoulders

My interpretation:

Stud Muffin!

Rather than our casual takes on studs with a few studs on our boots, or on the shoulders of our sweaters, Lady Gaga wears a stud-COVERED jacket. Enough said. Studs are totally in. Some items that really embody this stud muffin look:

All-American Girl

Her yellow hair and American-flag outfit scream “All-American girl” to us. While this trend is definitely not our thing anymore, it’s interesting to speculate on how we can inforporate this into our wardrobe:

  • Red, White, and Blue
  • Stars
  • Bandeaus?

My Interpretation:

Big Accessories:

In my other Lady Gaga posts, we saw that Lady Gaga definitely has a thing for big accessories. But, seemingly big and excessive accessories just don’t do the trick for her anymore, I guess. She has now turned to chains and blindfolds covered with burning cigarettes for help. A few items that imitate her look:

Well…that was inspiring, to say the least.

Have a gorgeous day, fashionistas!
